Official Unveiling
Something strange has always lurked beneath the lights and laughter at Oaks Park — and now he’s finally stepping into the spotlight.
According to lore, Willy has always been lurking around the park, unseen by guests as he wandered the midway shadows. But after years of hiding out in dark corners, he’s finally decided to join the fun by taking a job as a carnival game barker, enthusiastically inviting visitors to test their aim against him!
Legendary local artist Mike Bennett has lent his talents to this project, giving new life to a favorite Oaks Park attraction!
The newly refreshed Wrath of Willamette Willy game will officially debut on May 30, as part of our 121st birthday celebration, and Oaks Park guests will be able to play for free all day during the unveiling celebration.
With Bennett’s signature mix of playful weirdness, local folklore, and colorful storytelling, the revamped game feels perfectly at home at Oaks Park — a little funky, a little hilarious, and unmistakably Portland!

More Birthday Party Fun!
A favorite pastime for youngsters back when Oaks Park was new, children 12 and younger are invited to experience the fun that their great-great-grandparents had playing with paper dolls! Visit the craft tables near the Up, Up, & Away from 1 to 4 PM to participate!
The commemorative paper dolls are custom-designed by our Gift Shop Supervisor, Kale McDonough. Your child's creation is a one-of-a-kind keepsake that they can show to their children years from now when they share the story of being part of a special day in Portland's history!
Celebrate our birthday with a tasty slice of birthday cake, served near the carousel at 2 PM.
Guard your treat carefully... Chipper the Squirrel loves frosting, and he'll be on hand while we hand out the cake, just hoping to get a tasty morsel!
Following cake time, volunteers from The Oaks Skating Club will wander the midway with big, beautiful bundles of free birthday balloons for visitors of all ages.
Cake and balloons are only available while supplies last. Balloons may not be taken on the rides or into the Roller Rink.
Since our earliest days, clowns of all kinds have delighted and excited visitors with their zany antics and colorful characters!
We're excited to welcome a hometown favorite, Haha The Clown, to help celebrate our birthday and bring their special element of whimsy to the park, bringing out the child in all of us!
Starting at 5 PM, watch for Haha on the midway, and make sure you have your camera ready to capture the magic and joy of every encounter!
