The rink is set to transform into the smoothest spot in town, as KMHD takes over the floor for a night of “Jazz Without Boundaries.”
KMHD’s own station DJs will be spinning their favorite jazz tracks. Whether you're a longtime listener, a jazz explorer, or a skater looking for a new sensation, this special skate event delivers the perfect mix of rhythm and community. Come roll, sway, and celebrate the music that moves Portland.

February 25
During the 7-9:30 PM Open Skate Session
Every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month DJ Maxx Bass spins the raddest jams from the rink’s golden era—1970 through 1999. From disco grooves to hair-band anthems, hip-hop beats, and boy-band bops, it’s the soundtrack that defined a generation (or two).
Rock your flannels, JNCO jeans, windbreakers—or even your full disco sparkle. Whether you’re serving Saturday Night Fever or Saved by the Bell, you’ll fit right in as we rewind to the days before TikTok trends!

During the 7-10:30 PM Open Skate Session
Turn down the lights and turn up the fun— we're lighting up your Friday night! Roll beneath neon lights and flashing colors as the rink turns into a neon party the 2nd Friday of the month, every month, October through April!
Every admission comes with a free glow stick, so you’ll be ready to shine the moment you hit the floor. Plus, keep an eye out for our Black Out Skate specials, when the lights drop even lower and the glow takes over for an extra electric skating experience.

Relive your Top 8 at our Pop-Punk Skate! For one night only, 94/7 Alternative Portland takes over the rink, proving once and for all that it wasn't just a phase... it's the soundtrack of your life. DJs throw it back to the days of profile songs, flip phones, side-swept bangs, and nonstop pop-punk anthems from Blink-182, Good Charlotte, Green Day, and more.

Win great prizes in the eyeliner/guyliner contest, leave it all on the rink during the "Scream It Out" skate special, and vote for the #1 era-defining song of your generation. We'll see you and your squad at the Pop-Punk Revival—because growing up wasn't optional, but growing old is.

Brittany and Justin. Butterfly clips. Bad decisions. It's time to relive spring break at the dawn of the new millennium—the chaos, the coolness, and the carefree days when VJs broadcast the fun straight to your dorm room for a full week every March. The rink transforms into your very own beach-stage broadcast: skate to hype-worthy tracks curated by a live DJ under flashing lights for that legendary Y2K party atmosphere, get low during Low-Rise Limbo, take home great prizes in the Millennium Madness trivia contest.

Wednesdays
During Preschool Skate from 10-11:30 AM
We are proud to offer a special sensory-sensitive skate time with lower music volume so little ears aren’t overwhelmed, no disco lights, keeping the atmosphere soft and stead, and a quiet sensory play space, perfect for downtime when kids need a moment away from the action
This session is open to children 10 and younger, with a focus on the fun of skating in a calm setting that feels safe, welcoming, and relaxed.

Tuesdays & Wednesdays
10-11:30 AM • 6 & Younger
Twice a week, kiddos 6 and under (plus their families) get the whole rink to themselves for a skating adventure sized just right for toddlers.
Each session is designed to help little ones build confidence on wheels and includes a 15-minute group lesson to practice balance, stopping, a snack break to recharge growing skaters, and a cuddly visit from our mascot, Chipper the Squirrel! Because every big skater starts small—let’s roll into fun together!
Admission: $13 per child
One adult skates FREE with each paid child. Older siblings may join in with their preschooler (admission rate applies).
